Spice Cake (Ontbijtkoek — Holland)
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup molasses
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients to a smooth paste. Butter an 8 x 3-inch cake tin. Fill with dough and bake for about 1 hour at 300 degrees F. Allow to cool.
Keep in a tin for 24 hours before serving.
